Cooking Achievements in Wrath

Although it's not as awesome as "Iron Chef" you can earn a "Chef" title from achievements after Wrath of the Lich King launches. To earn the title, you need to complete all of the following cooking achievements:

  • Grand Master cook
  • The Cake Is Not A Lie
  • Kickin' It Up a Notch
  • The Northrend Gourmet
  • Second That Emotion
  • Critter Glitter
  • Our Daily Bread (differs for horde and alliance)
  • Dinner Impossible
  • Captain Rumsey's Lager
  • Sous Chef
  • The Outland Gourmet

Read on for details on each achievement's criteria.

P.S. Collecting all the recipes in game is not required for the Chef title, but it is a related achievement. I've compiled a guide to all the recipes currently available in game and how to obtain them.

Grand Master cook
This one will be very easy since my cooks are all 375 skill. Once you reach 350 cooking skill you can train the Grand Master skill, which will allow you to proceed to a maximum of 450 skill points.

The Cake Is Not A Lie
For this achievement, you must bake a Bake a [Delicious Chocolate Cake]. I made a bunch of these for holiday gifts last year but don't think that will count. Oh well– guess that means everyone gets cake again this year…The recipe for the cake is a rare drop obtained from doing the Burning Crusade daily cooking quests, available from The Rokk in Lower City to cooks who have attained level 70.

Kickin' It Up a Notch
Speaking of the Rokk, for this achievement you have to complete all 4 of his daily cooking quests, including making the dreaded Kaliri Stew:

The Northrend Gourmet
There are conflicting thoughts on this achievement. There are 3 increasing levels to it, with the first requiring you cook 15 of the possible 46 new Northrend recipes, the next 30, and the final 45 of the 46. Knowing Blizz, you probably have to get all the way through this achievement path for this one to be considered complete. So it will take a while but should be attainable…unless one of those recipes requires killing a raid boss and turning in his head and grinding hundreds of thousands of rep. *cough*chimera chops*cough*.

Second That Emotion
This achievement requires eating 4 new "emotion" foods:

Above links go out to the source for the recipes, which appear to be world drops within specific mob levels. Note you don't have to make the item, only eat it. However, should you be lucky enough to end up with the recipe early into the expansion, they have the potential to be a nice money maker.

Critter Glitter
This achievement requires you to Use [Critter Bites] to convince 10 critters to be your pet within 3 minutes or less. For this you will want to scope out a place that has an abundance of critters to make that feasible.

Our Daily Bread
(differs for horde and alliance as far as the NPC in Dalaran who gives the quest)
Complete each of the cooking daily quests offered by Katherine Lee in Dalaran:

Nice that you can get started on the cooking dailies while you are actually leveling and killing the mobs whose meat is necessary for the quests. Another nice plus is these recipes call for [Chilled Meat] , which drops off a number of Beasts throughout Northrend. No more overfarming of a specific mob just to get a quest done. — yeah!

Dinner Impossible

Present a Great Feast in each of the battlegrounds listed below:

  • Alterac Valley
  • Warsong Gulch
  • Eye of the Storm
  • Arathi Basin
  • Strand of the Ancients

Note that you do not have to stay in the battleground after presenting your feast. You can dine and dash as soon as you get your confirmation of having served the feast.

Captain Rumsey's Lager

Brew up a pint of this fishy brew. The Captain Rumsey's lager recipe is available randomly as an Outland fishing dailies reward.

Sous Chef

Learn 100 recipes.

The Outland Gourmet

Cook one of each of the following:

This ends up being one of the more problematic achievements for many folks for a slew of reasons. First, it requires being a fisherperson or knowing someone who is. The Outland caught fish are not typically on the Auction House now that we are well into Wrath of the Lich King. Second, the Sporeling Snack recipe is a byproduct of doing some Zangermarsh questing for Sporregar that many folks skip over. And third, the Delicious Chocolate Cake and Stormchops recipes can take weeks of daily cooking quests to obtain.
